Love oil can be made from many different herbs. You can use almost anything as a base oil. There are various ways to manufacture love oil. Love herbs are generally governed by Venus. One of the most popular love herbs known to man is the rose. I have a rose in my apartment which I have shredded up today. This was a rose given to me when I participated in a Wiccan magick ritual. I saved the rose and let it dry out for less than a year. It was pink colored.
My base oil was another plant associated with Venus and love. I used almond oil to soak the rose petals in. This is sitting on my altar charging. It was stirred with my athame to help direct power into the potion. This potion can be used for different purposes in magick. It can be used on the body or to anoint magick candles. This oil that I am making will not be strong in fragrance. Some people are sensitive to fragrance. You might like the idea of using a rose which has dried for a long time and does not possess a strong odor.
My bowl was a regular cereal bowl merely because nothing else was clean. Typically I would use something more ceremonial. All of my usual magick bowls are currently being used for something else. Into the bowl I placed 2 pieces of Rose Quartz. This is a stone which is said to help us with love related issues. 2 is a great number to work with in love magick.
There is a theme of travel in today's magickal working. My Holy Guardian Angel has been directing me through it. I have mentioned my trip to Montreal in my previous post. In today's spell I have also used a stone purchased at an occult shop in a place called North Tonawanda. This is a suburb of Buffalo in New York State. I visited Buffalo last on Winter Solstice where I took part in a dinner at the O.T.O. lodge located in this city. I decided to spend a few extra days in Buffalo. I had stopped speaking to my mother around November 30th due to a conflict.
Christmas was spent alone this year, but I decided to make it more meaningful by extending my trip to Buffalo by a couple of days. I went ice skating on Main Street at a public rink. It was a wonderful time. Tomorrow I will be returning to Buffalo and it will be exactly 7 months later.
The stone I purchased at the occult shop was kunzite. I have wanted to move on from my past for a very long time. There have been many lingering feelings which I have been unable to resolve within myself. Kunzite is a useful stone for female issues and mending a broken heart. It is related to love and said to attract it. I bought this stone to help mend my heart and prepare me for a potential new relationship. I have been charging this stone on a make shift altar. I like to work at my desk when I am doing magick. It is most convenient for me to use a plate as an altar to contain my magickal work. I have used a green plate today. Venus is the planet associated with the color green and appropriate for love magick workings. Pink is more commonly used, but green is valuable as a color too.
Today I have performed some love magick. My Holy Guardian Angel instructed me in what to do. I was planning on doing a different type of magick today. I am heading off to the United States tomorrow to exhibit my art work. My Holy Guardian Angel has been conversing with me for many years. What I have done is obey her words for the past year as much as I can. This has changed my life dramatically. I am much happier now that she is helping me.
A few months ago I was in Montreal doing an art show for the first time in many years. It was a solo show at an art gallery in the plateau region. It was still winter when I was there. I climbed Mount Royal on that March day and waddled through the snow to tear a loose piece of birch bark off of a tree. Birch is a Venus ruled tree which makes it appropriate for love magick. This piece of birch bark has been sitting on my altar for many months.
I have waited all this time to use it. I lit a white candle to acknowledge the lunar forces at work on an emotional level. My emotions have been a barrier to many things in life. This is what it might seem, but it is a two way street. The emotions of other people to which I am sensitive are an even bigger problem when it comes to relationships. Many people have people in their lives they don't want to let go of. These issues can be very painful for lovers of the past. They don't want to see us happy with someone else.
Love is a universal idea. It is one of the most commons desires people have out of life. Everybody wants to meet the right person who will love them completely. Most people wish to have a union with a member of the opposite sex or someone they are sexually attracted to. Love magick is a very popular form of witchcraft. Many people have ethical issues with the idea of casting spells on another human being which might affect their freedom of choice. This is a morally grey area which could be debated about at great length. In my personal view magick makes a great self development tool. Articulating a desire for a relationship to occur through the use of magick is another rite of passage which can enhance our lives. If we fixate on an outcome without analyzing why the magick isn't working we may become very upset.
Many times we will be attracted to a person who does not return our feelings. Magick can help us understand this situation by giving us a new way of analyzing our feelings. I am going to document my experiences with love magick in this blog. Many of you will want to try out the magick workings I discuss. We will look at many things related to love magick. There will be a discussion of different books and occult related items I will use as I work with these ideas.
It is important to not look at these things from too serious of an angle. Many people lack a sense of humor and take witchcraft too seriously. We know that there probably isn't much harm in making wishes and articulating them in a creative manner like spell working. This is merely a creative act to make life a little bit more interesting. Many of us like to honor the experience of living through ritual magick. Ritual magick is a great way to accept the beauty of life and appreciate the world around.
